Church Update and Encouragement

Update

November is Adoption Awareness Month and Nov. 8 is Orphan + Stand Sunday. Four Asian families will be sharing in the English worship services ‪at 9:30 AM and ‪11:15 AM this Sunday. Join us afterwards for a live Zoom Q&A at 2 PM to “meet” the foster families, hear them live, and find out more about the adventures, risks, and blessings along the journey of foster care. Click here to register!

Approximately 6,000 kids are in foster care in the Bay Area today. Many have to be sent out of the county due to shortage of foster homes, causing even more trauma than what they have already experienced. Each of these kids has a name, a story, and a place in God’s heart. Each of these kids needs a home and someone to love on.

Dear Church Family,

As the church, our identity is neither “Blue” (Democrats) or “Red” (Republicans): our identity is in Jesus Christ. That also means our brothers and sisters in Christ are family regardless of who they voted for—they should be loved and respected. It also means our King is none other than Jesus Christ and our ultimate hope for a just and righteous society is for Him to return – no president or earthly leader can bring us the peace we long for.

However, whoever is leading needs our prayers and we need to pray for them. This weekend may we all pause to pray for our nation and the leadership that will be allowed into the White House. The apostle Paul, who lived under a very godless leader, said:

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4

Pray for:
1. Their faith in Jesus Christ.
2. The gospel to go forth unhindered under their leadership.
3. God’s wisdom to be with them.
4. The church to join in prayers of thanksgiving and intercession for our country’s leadership
5. The church to fulfill our role as “salt and light” in this world.

Blessings,
Pastor Steve
