Church Update and Encouragement

Encouragement

Dear Church Family,

I subscribe to Christianity Today magazine, and the inside page of the December cover promoted a film described as “a new documentary film offering a hopeful vision for Christian participation in contemporary politics.”

I needed this. Over the years, I’ve become disappointed, perhaps even cynical, about our political system and how as a Christian I could make a difference. I believe this documentary offers hope, along with the perspective that we can biblically support matters and policies that support “politics for the common good.” And there are indeed scriptures to support that view. The Apostle Paul said:

"So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith." Galatians 6:10

Paul said we should do good works and ways for those outside and inside of God’s family. We often think about what is good for us Christians, but do we think about what is good for those outside of God's family? The general public? Paul also said something very applicable today in this atmosphere of anger and hate:

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:21

I would encourage you to take the opportunity to register and view this documentary (about 1 hour). Register (for free) at ForLoveofNeighbor.com

In Christ,
Pastor Steve
