Church Update and Encouragement

Dear Church Family,

Where were you on September 11, 2001? Esther and I were on a vacation trip in China when terrorists attacked our country. God helped us through that national crisis, and I trust him, as we trust in him now, to also see us through this one.

I’m tired of using the word “unprecedented,” but we have had another one of those weeks with an earthquake last Sunday (with the epicenter in the city I live in, San Leandro!) and eerie orange skies all day Wednesday. I’m encouraged by your resilience and faith in the Lord you have demonstrated during this most unusual time. However, I’ve also heard some say it is “apocalyptic” and “scary.” Do you need a spiritual lift? Listen and sing your favorite songs or hymns!

Psalms 98:1-5 says:

"Sing to the LORD a new song, for he performs amazing deeds! His right hand and his mighty arm accomplish deliverance. …

Shout out praises to the LORD, all the earth! Break out in a joyful shout and sing! Sing to the LORD accompanied by a harp, accompanied by a harp and the sound of music!"

And the Apostle Paul wrote:

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and exhorting one another with all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, all with grace in your hearts to God." Colossians 3:16

God created us to praise him and encourage ourselves through songs, many of which you can easily find through YouTube. And you can go to our past worship services to listen and sing along with our church members.

I’m praying for God to comfort and encourage you!

In Christ,
Pastor Steve
