The Friends of India trip ended this week and participants faced travel times to return to the US from 20 to nearly 40 hours. Then, because of the unusual time difference (12.5 hours ahead), jet lag.

Pastor Alex Schweng and MDO’s vision is to serve the urban poor, exalt Jesus Christ, and see His kingdom shine in the brokenness of our world. Here are excerpts from Pastor Alex’s recent ministry report:

Pastor Alex Schweng along with their growing staff and partners serve the urban poor. MDO’s vision is to exalt Jesus Christ and see His kingdom shine in the brokenness of our world. This past July started the 12th year of ministry in Oakland and has grown to serve other cities of great need.

Pastor Alex Schweng’s organization now has 10 church planters on staff to serve the urban poor. While they do holistic ministry, their main passion and mission continue to be “Go Make Disciples”.

Both ministries have a passion to share God's love and the Good News to those who might be marginalized or underserved by the general population and their local and national government hierarchy.

Each month, we highlight one of the Missions organizations supported by our church’s Great Commission Fund. Missio Dei Oakland began 10 years ago under the leadership of Pastor Alex Schweng.
